A protective overlaminate is applied to the whole label at print time, so the 24mm tape width can be wrapped around CAT5E and even thicker CAT6A network cables while still protecting the text. When printed and applied, the label appears the same as a standard black-on-white label — if removed, a checkerboard pattern is left to show the label has been tampered with.
This non-adhesive tape is wound in the cassette as a flat tube. When printed on, the tube opens and is passed over a cable or connector; on heating with a heat gun, the tube shrinks to half its original width and grips the cable.
